John Barleycorn Must Die is the fourth studio album by Traffic, released in 1970. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200, making it their highest charting album in the US. In addition, the single "Empty Pages" spent eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 74. The album was marginally less successful in the UK, reaching #11. I love the easy, spacious, relaxed feel on this album. There's an autumnal, melancholy to the title track. No-one seems in any hurry. Traffic didn't make a bad album, in fact every record is fantastic.
